Caring for oneself is actually showing love for the other

Imaging a master holding a vertical pole with his diciple at top end of the pole.
The diciple requests his master at the bottom to hold the pole tight and keep it balance, so that he is not at risk of falling.
Meanwhile his master requests his diciple at the top to balance himself and not to wobble so much, so that he can keep in balance.
